Corica Park (Alameda)

Description: Corica Park, home of Alameda’s municipal golf course, is home to many birds.  From December 2022 to late June 2023, the course hosted a Bald Eagle pair, but they are presently "on vacation." Neither of the pair has been seen on the course or in its environs since late June.  We believe that they will return, but of course we don't know when.  
Many other birds still being frequently seen on our route: several species of swallows, Green Heron, Western Bluebird, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Red-Winged Blackbird, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, both Egrets and more!  So, there is still lots to see.  Fall migration will bring new surprises!  
The walk will be about 1.5 miles, on a paved road and flat trails. Restrooms at the beginning. We need to minimize disturbance to the birds, so the group must stay together at all times and follow all instructions from the field trip leaders. We will be in an area closed to golfing while we are there.
Greenway Golf manages Corica Park. Trip Size: 10 participants max
Directions: 1 Clubhouse Memorial Rd, Alameda.  From Doolittle Drive, turn on Island Drive. Go past the traffic light at Robert Davey Drive, turn left at the course entrance.  Park in the large parking lot, proceed to the building at the end of lot with restrooms and the pro shop.  Meet at the front corner nearest the course.  You may encounter significant traffic at the elementary school near the course, so please leave extra time to arrive.
