Date: Saturday, February 8
Description: Meeker Slough is a hidden gem on the Richmond shoreline. This area and the adjoining South Richmond Marshes along the SF Bay Trail have a variety of habitats -- mudflats, tidal marshes, and open waters – so they attract an impressive variety of birds.

This is a great place for beginner and seasoned birders, in addition to family packs with very young birders. On this trip, you can see large flocks of shorebirds, a variety of ducks, and, if lucky, a rare sighting of a Ridgway's Rail. Dressing in layers and wearing sunscreen is highly recommended as conditions can be windy, chilly, and sunny. Altogether you can expect to travel between 1-1.5 miles on even, paved surfaces. The nearest public restroom is at Shimada Friendship Park at the end of Marina Bay Parkeat, less than a mile away.
In the event of heavy/steady rain, this trip will be canceled and participants will be notified by email and/or text about rescheduling.
Trip Size: 12 Participants Max
Directions: Take Marina Bay Parkway towards the Bay and turn left at Bayside Way, the first turn after Regatta Blvd. We will meet at the trail entrance in the cul-de-sac at the end of Bayside Way, Carpooling is encouraged as there is limited parking, approximately 10 parking spots, at the trailhead.
This event will open at 1pm on Tuesday, January 21 and close at 11pm on Thursday, February 6
