Tern Summer Field Trip at Middle Harbor Shoreline (Oakland)
Description
Trip Leaders: Megan Jankowski and Whitney Grover (wgrover@goldengatebirds.org)
Date: Saturday, August 16
Description: Megan Jankowski has been leading field trips with Golden Gate Bird Alliance since 2018 and is listed as one of the top 10 contributers to Middle Harbor Shoreline's eBird data. In addition to volunteering as a trip leader, she has previously volunteered as a monitor with the Tern Watch program in Alameda. The shore around Middle Harbor is one of terns' frequent foraging grounds. The abundance of birds changes here every year, but August is probably the best chance to see all four species of terns: Least, Elegant, Caspian, and Forster's.
This event is in support of our summer fundraiser. While we are offering this event at no cost, we encourage donations so that we can continue to serve and advocate for birds and nature to benefit all Bay Area residents. You can donate during check out or click here.
