Description: Join me for an easy, flat stroll (a little over a mile) around Hilltop Lake in Richmond, a freshwater pond surrounded by willows, cattails, native vegetation and ornamental trees and shrubs. Year round residents may include woodpeckers, wrens, occasional waders & shorebirds, hummingbirds and raptors. Winter brings in the ducks, kinglets, Audubon and Myrtle’s Yellow-rumped Warblers and kingfisher, while spring/summer sees migrants, nesting residents, swallows and more. Check out eBird bar chart for this location at https://ebird.org/barchart?r=l1405454&yr=all&m=
The trail is paved and there are cement block benches in 2 places. There are NO bathrooms or water fountains at this park. You can try the Chevron station at Richmond Parkway and Blume (just off freeway) or the Starbucks on Richmond Parkway and Atlas Rd. Please bring binoculars.
