Meeker Slough (Richmond)

Description: Ben and I are excited to be back in the East Bay and leading bird walks again at Meeker Slough.

Our main goals for the walk will be to see as many birds as possible and help everyone get good looks at them. Bird activity may be a little slower at this time of year, but that gives us plenty of time to help newer birders spot birds and to catch up with fellow birders.

We typically cover 1–2 miles on a nicely paved path, with three benches available along the route. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing sun-protective items such as a hat and sunscreen. Restrooms are available nearby at Shimada Friendship Park.

We will be gathering at a specific point along the San Francisco Bay Trail (see the Google Maps link for the exact location). If you're driving, the easiest option is to take Marina Bay Parkway to Bayside Drive and park at the end of the roundabout. From there, it's about a quarter-mile walk to our meeting spot.
