Description: Corica Park, home of Alameda’s municipal golf course, is home to a surprising number of birds. In late March, highlights included lingering Spotted Sandpiper and Greater Yellowlegs, along with Western Bluebird, Green Heron, and Great-tailed Grackle. Each walk and every season are different. The walk will be about 1.5 miles, on flat, possibly muddy, trails. Restrooms only at the beginning. Because we are in a limited-access area the group must stay together at all times and follow all instructions from the field trip leaders. We will be in an area closed to golfing while we are there.
In winter and spring of 2023, a pair of Bald Eagles nested on the North Course, where we plan to walk. This season, we have infrequently and randomly seen last year's male, but no sightings so far of Big Jr., his 2023 mate.  Greenway Golf manages Corica Park, and is in the process of renovating and restoring the vibrant ecosystem of the North Course. Greenway Golf's vision is one of environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive spaces for everyone - learn more at https://www.coricapark.com/mission/
