Corica Park (Alameda)

Description: Description: Corica Park, home of Alameda’s municipal golf course, is home to many birds.  In winter 2023 we were delightfully surprised by a Bald Eagle pair nesting on the course.  After their summer departure, the male from last year's pair has re-appeared.  No female (yet), so his presence at  the course can be irregular.   Lots of other birds are frequently seen as well: Red-Tailed and Red-Shouldered Hawk, Kestrel, Merlin, shorebirds, egrets, woodpeckers, and others. 

The walk will be about 1.5 miles, on a paved road and flat trails. Restrooms at the beginning only. Because we are in a limited-access area the group must stay together at all times and follow all instructions from the field trip leaders. On December 4, the course will be open for golfing, so you will need to be alert to others on the course and there will be an increased risk of being hit by a golfball. By attending the walk, you assume that risk.

Greenway Golf manages Corica Park. Trip Size: 10 participants max
Directions: 1 Clubhouse Memorial Rd, Alameda.  From Doolittle Drive, turn on Island Drive. Go past the traffic light at Robert Davey Drive, turn left at the course entrance.  Park in the large parking lot, proceed to the building at the end of lot with restrooms and the pro shop.  Meet at the front corner nearest the course.  You may encounter significant traffic at the elementary school near the course, so please leave extra time to arrive.
