Description

Trip Leader: Alameda Team, for inquiries you may email Linda Carloni at fawr@goldengateaudubon.org or, on the day of the walk, text 510-206-0554.
Date: Monday, December 18
Description
Corica Park, home of Alameda’s municipal golf course, is home to many birds.  From December 2022 to late June 2023, the course hosted a Bald Eagle pair, but neither of the pair has been seen on the course or in its environs since late June.  We believe that they will return, but of course we don't know when.

Many other birds are still being frequently seen on our route: Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Kestrel, Greater Yellowlegs, Black-necked Stilt, Common Yellow-throat, both Egrets and more!  Winter  may bring new surprises.

The walk will be about 1.5 miles, on a paved road and flat trails. Restrooms at the beginning. Because we are in a limited-access area the group must stay together at all times and follow all instructions from the field trip leaders. We will be in an area closed to golfing while we are there.
Greenway Golf manages Corica Park. The eagles used a nest on the North Course, which is undergoing renovation and restoration of its vibrant ecosystem.  Greenway Golf’s vision is one of environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive spaces for everyone - learn more at https://www.coricapark.com/mission/
