Description

Leader: Maureen Lahiff, MLahiff@aol.com, (510) 484-6529

Date: Sunday, March 23 –  10:30 am to 1:00 pm

Description: It’s time to say farewell to shorebirds and ducks. Male Ruddy Ducks that are still around are beginning to look ruddy, Eared and Horned Grebes have the plumage for which they are named, Dunlin have black belly patches, and American Avocets have cinnamon blush on their heads and necks.

The pathways are paved and level, but we need to watch out for the runners and bicyclists. The trail is less than .5 mile, but with a good deal of standing as we look at the marsh and the birds. There are restrooms and water available at the parking lot for Arrowhead Marsh.

If you need a pair of GGBA’s loaner binoculars, please let Maureen know by Monday, March 17. Spotting scopes welcome and appreciated. Trip will be cancelled if there is heavy or steady rain. If the weather if iffy, you’re welcome to text or call the leader early on Sunday morning.

Trip Size: 20 Participants Max

Directions: Meet at Arrowhead Marsh at MLK Regional Shoreline, at the end of the entrance road off Swan Way.

This event will open at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 18, and close at 11 pm on Thursday, March 20.
