Bird Curious @ Glen Canyon Park (San Francisco)

03/29/2025 09:00 AM - 10:30 AM PT

Description

Leader: Patricia Tsao, Alana Yoel, and Jeanette Pettibone (email us at birdcurious@goldengatebirds.org  with “Glen Canyon” in the subject line)

Date: Saturday, March 29 – 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Description: Join us for an exciting adventure at Glen Canyon Park in San Francisco, where we will look and listen for birds, using our visual guide to birds found in the canyon. We will divide into small groups that will each spend an hour or so focusing on a different habitat in Glen Canyon.  By birding in this intimate format, participants will be able to better understand how the facilitators find and identify birds and experience the thrill of discovery and satisfying detective work that birding offers. At the end, we will gather as a group at picnic tables to share our discoveries and gain a fuller understanding of the birds that inhabit Glen Canyon.

For a list of birds we could potentially see on our walk, check out the ebird records for March at Glen Canyon Park here.

This walk is part of the Bird Curious series, which aims to create a welcoming learning environment for new & budding birders while building community through shared exploration, education and discovery.

Heavy rain cancels.

No binoculars? No problem! Fill out this form and we’ll make sure to have a pair for you. If you have an extra pair of binoculars and you’re willing to bring them along to share, please do!

The routes will primarily take place on dirt paths with uneven surfaces and may include a 100 ft elevation gain with stairs.

There are nice clean restrooms at the community center next to our meeting spot.
