Joseph D. Grant County Park
Description
Joseph D. Grant County park is an excellent birding location in the East Hills of Santa Clara County. We will walk through the scrub and savanna habitat in search of lingering winter birds as well as possible early spring arrivals. Nestled in a bucolic valley with stunning views of Mount Hamilton and Lick Observatory, it feels like another part of the world. Target birds include Golden Eagle, Say’s Phoebe, Phainopepla, Lawrence's Goldfinch, pretty good chance of the returning Vermillion Flycatcher. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch and we can eat together after the walk. Date/Time: Thursday April 3rd – 8 to 11:30 a.m. From 880 take 101 south to the Alum Rock Ave. exit. Go east to Mt. Hamilton Rd. Make a right on Mt. Hamilton Rd. turn into the park just past Quimby Rd. intersection. Pay at the pay kiosk. $6.00. Turn left into the first parking lot. I will be there in my green Subaru Forester. I do advise not to use Quimby Rd. to get to the park. Any questions, my number is 408 806-6772
