Bird Curious @ Glen Canyon Park (San Francisco)
Description
Leader: Margot Bezrutczyk (margot.bezrutczyk@gmail.com), Lydia Bruno (lydia.e.bruno@gmail.com)
Date: Saturday April 26 8 - 10 a.m.
Description: Let’s explore the richness of bird behavior in spring! We’ll be walking around Glen Canyon looking for signs of bird breeding behavior, from seasonally-specific songs to nest building, courtship dances, and an overall increase in boldness and energy.
This walk is part of the Bird Curious series– Bird Curious is for new birders. We aim to highlight the contemplative aspects of birding by listening and being present. Our purpose is to create community around birds and deepen our relationship with the natural world through shared education and discovery. Bird Curious walks will always be free!
No binoculars? No problem! We bring a few extra pairs.
We expect the walk to take 1.5-2 hours, with approximately 100 ft elevation gain– the path mostly has stairs along the hilly sections, and there are a few benches scattered throughout the park, but this trip in not wheelchair accessible. There are nice clean restrooms at the community center next to our meeting spot.
Directions: Different location than last time we had a walk here! Meet by the park near the Safeway on Diamond Heights Blvd. There’s lots of parking by the grocery store.
