Date: Saturday, May 24 – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Celebrate Black Birders Week along the Richmond Shoreline. As this year’s theme is about building and growing community, join us at the Dodson Family Marsh. Learn about the Dotson Family, who led the residents of nearby Parchester Village in working together to save this area so everyone could experience being outside in a safe place, and how to build and grow a supportive outdoor community.
We are likely to see Sparrows and Western Meadowlarks in the grassland areas. This is a great area for raptors.
The trails are hard-packed, fairly level, and a bit narrower as we approach the jetty. Round trip is a bit less than 2 miles, out to the end of the Jetty Trail and back. Most of the terrain is exposed, with little shade. There are restrooms at the staging area. Please bring water and snacks.
If you’d like to use a pair of loaner binoculars, please let Chelsea know by Wednesday May 21.
Trip size: Limit of 20 for this trip
