Description

Trip Leaders: David Assmann, david_assmann@yahoo.com, Erica Rutherford, ihearwaxwings@gmail.com,  John Colbert, eastbaybirding@gmail.com

Date: Sunday June 15 -- 8 to 10 a.m.

Description: The focus of the May field trip will be looking for late migrants.  May can bring a surprise migrant, and there should still be migrating flycatchers, vireos and warblers moving through. In previous years, we have had a Western Wood Pewee, a Western Tanager and a Black Headed Grosbeak. Nesting birds could include Pigeon Guillemots and Hooded Orioles. We'll also check out the Black Point Battery for flycatchers and warblers, and scan Aquatic Park for water birds.

Meet in front of the Community Garden to explore several different habitats in this compact part of GGNRA.  Restroom in meadow, ample parking if there is no race on the waterfront (also easily accessible by transit). Most of the walk is flat, on mostly paved walkways, but there is one short steep descent to the waterfront. Benches are in the garden for resting if needed. Heavy rain cancels.

Trip Size: Walk is restricted to 15 participants
