Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Preserve (Oakland)

Date: Sunday August 31 – 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Description: Nestled in a small canyon just east of Skyline Blvd, Leona Canyon Open Space Preserve is a lovely oak forest with well-maintained trails. We will walk 1.5-3 miles along Leona Trail predominately following the Rifle Range creek bed. We should see (and hear) a number of oak forest inhabitants such as the Oak Titmouse, California Scrub Jay, Spotted Towhee, and many others. Bring water and sturdy footwear as it may heat up later in the day and the trails are unpaved.
Trip limit: 14 Participants Max
Directions: Meet at the south Leona Trailhead (37.775375, -122.145875) by entering the Ridgemont apartment complex at 750 Canyon Oaks Drive, turning left, and then bearing left into the trail-head parking lot.
