Special Event: Biodiversity Day in Northern San Francisco
Description
Trip Leader: David Assmann David_Assmann@Yahoo.com
Date: Sunday, September 7 – 7:30 a.m. to Noon
Description: Celebrate California Biodiversity Day 2025 by exploring the variety of habitats in and around northern San Francisco. Migrant land birds (including orioles, tanagers, grosbeaks, warblers, vireos, and flycatchers) will be passing through Fort Mason and the Presidio. Crissy Field should have a variety of shorebirds, as well as migrating passerines. That’s in addition to the many resident species in the area. Raptors are common in this area (up to a dozen species). We will be birding in three separate areas, and carpooling between them, starting and ending at Fort Mason. Most of the walk is flat, on a mixture of paved and gravel walkways. Some benches for resting if needed. Heavy rain cancels.
Trip Size: Walk is restricted to 12 participants
Directions: Meet in front of the Community Garden at Fort Mason.
