Description
Trip Leader: Alan Krakauer, (510) 932-1930, alan.krakauer@gmail.com
Date: Wednesday September 24 - 9 to 11 a.m.
Description: Join us for a relatively easy walk near Wildcat Creek in Alvarado Park. Alvarado includes a variety of native and non-native tree species and is home to a number of upland birds including Acorn Woodpeckers, Brown Creeper, Red-shouldered Hawk, and Steller's Jay. In September it offers a chance for a number of warblers and other fall migrants.
We will walk a relatively easy 1/2 mile loop from the parking lot on graded paths with little elevation gain. There are bathroom facilities in the parking area and also in the park, along with several benches and tables. Participants up for a longer morning can take additional trails in Alvarado or enter Wildcat Canyon Regional Park.
Trip Size: Walk is restricted to 15 participants
Directions: Parking is free in the EBRPD lot or on street. Use the Alvarado Staging Area on Park Avenue off of McBryde Avenue in Richmond. Meet near the rest room and picnic tables in the parking lot.
