Description
Leaders: David Edelson, (415) 215-7238, davidedelson6@gmail.com, and Rory Reid
Date: Friday, November 7, 8-11 am
Description: Valle Vista is an EBMUD protected watershed near the town of Moraga. It offers a wonderful combination of forest, open, and aquatic habitats, which means we can hope to see a wide variety of birds. We’ll share our observations of year-round residents, enjoy the return of migratory species like Yellow-rumped Warblers and White-crowned and Golden-crowned Sparrows, and take close looks at overwintering ducks and waterbirds. Suitable for all birders; “beginner’s mind” encouraged. This is a relatively flat, approximately 2 mile walk on dirt roads, with a few ups and downs. There is a bathroom at the trailhead but no water.
Trip Size: 15 maximum
Directions: Take Highway 24 to Orinda/Moraga exit (exit 9). Head southeast on Moraga Way towards Moraga and proceed approximately 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Canyon Road. Proceed approximately 1 mile to EBMUD Valle Vista Staging Area (on the left)
