Date: Saturday Nov 29 – 8 to 11 a.m.
Description: Part of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay NWR, Coyote Creek Lagoon and Coyote Creek are waterbird heaven. We will experience waterfowl, shorebirds, herons, rails and raptors. If we are lucky, we will see Bald Eagles and/or Golden Eagles.
We will walk 2.5 miles (1.25 miles out and back) along the flat, compacted-gravel Coyote Creek Lagoon Trail. There are benches at the turnaround point. Should you not wish to travel the whole distance, or want to go further, the return to the parking lot is very straightforward.
Bring binoculars, water, sunscreen and hat. Bring scopes if you have them.
The trail has no restroom. Plan to visit your favorite Starbuck’s/McDonald’s/Service-station restroom before/after the field trip. They can be found just as you exit the 880S freeway onto Fremont Blvd.
Beginners and advanced birders alike are encouraged to join us, to give us all a rewarding experience.
This location is a bit of a distance for many of us. Furthermore, the parking lot is small. We strongly encourage carpooling. If you live in the Albany/El Cerrito Area, a good meetup spot is the Target parking lot. In the Alameda/Oakland area, the Nob Hill parking lot is pretty convenient.
To facilitate carpooling, we have created a Carpool Sign-Up:

Travel .2 miles to the parking lot.
