Crissy Field Lagoon & Quartermaster Reach, the Presidio

Description: Crissy Field Lagoon, Quartermaster Reach, and surrounding areas.

Meet at the Presidio's East Beach parking lot on Thursday, December 11 at 10 am; more specifically,  in the grassy area just north of the bathrooms / changing rooms.    

The trip will last around 2 ½ hours.  Limit 12 people.  We will walk 1½ to 2 miles on level trails, some paved, some unpaved; we may also walk onto the beach to see what birds are on the Bay.  I hope we will see some overwintering ducks and shorebirds, as well as other waterbirds and some landbirds.

The trip is open to all levels of birders. 

Please bring binoculars; if you have a birding telescope, please bring that as well. 

There will be bathrooms at the parking area, and potentially at one other spot on our route.  

There will also be some benches, but probably not enough for everyone to sit down at the same time.  

IN CASE OF RAIN, THE TRIP WILL BE RESCHEDULED to Wednesday, December 17 IN THE AFTERNOON from 2 to 4:30 pm

Limit: 12 participants max

Description: To reach the East Beach parking lot turn north off of Old Mason St. in the Presidio shortly after entering the Presidio from the East.  (From the West: the entrance to the parking lot is shortly before leaving the Presidio.)  The parking lot itself is close to the Bay. 

The 30 Stockton bus line also runs along Old Mason St., however, not all busses run as far as the Presidio.

Registration for this event will open at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 18, and close on Monday, December 8.
