Corica Park (Alameda)

Date: Monday December 15 -- 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Description: Corica Park, home of Alameda’s municipal golf course, is home to a surprising number of birds. We regularly see green heron, and sometimes spot all 5 local heron species in one trip. We also see woodpeckers, Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, Greater Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, and many more.

The walk will be about 1.5 miles, on flat trails. Bench and restrooms only at the beginning. The golf course will be open to golfing while we are there. The group must stay together at all times and follow all instructions from the field trip leaders.

Limit: 15 participants max

Directions: 1 Clubhouse Memorial Rd, Alameda. From Doolittle Drive, turn on Island Drive. Go past the traffic light at Robert Davey Drive, turn left at the course entrance. Park in the large parking lot, proceed to the building at the end of the lot with restrooms and the pro shop. Meet at the front corner nearest the course. You may encounter significant traffic at the elementary school near the course, so please leave extra time to arrive.

Registration for this event will open at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 18, and close on Thursday, December 11.
