Description: Bird Curious is a series of bird walks for people new to birding or GGBA field trips. They are designed to be a supportive introduction to nature and birding. Our goal is to build interest in
birding while building community with fellow learners! Join us for an exploration of Crissy Field Lagoon in the Presidio. The lagoon area has been restored to tidal wetlands surrounded by native coastal scrub plantings. This area attracts a wide variety of birds. We’ll be looking for wintering shorebirds, waterbirds, gulls, warblers, sparrows and raptors. For a list of birds we could potentially see on our walk, check out the eBird records for past Januarys at Crissy Lagoon here. No binoculars? No problem! Fill out this form to check out a pair from Golden Gate Bird Alliance’s lending library. We will also have a few loaner pairs on hand, available on a first-
come, first-served basis. If you have an extra pair of binoculars and you’re willing to bring them along to share, please do! We will also have spotting scopes for folks to see birds at a distance. We will cover up 1-2 miles or so over the course of 2 hours, on level paved and unpaved trails. There are benches available along the route. There are multiple restrooms around the lagoon area. Directions: Meet at the picnic tables at the East Bluff Picnic area. (Google map) There is plenty of free parking in a lot near the restrooms as well as public transit options and bike racks. We will send out a carpool sign up to those people attending the field trip. Heavy rain cancels  Please email birdcurious@goldengatebirds.org with any questions. Include the location and date of the trip in the email subject line.

Registration opens on Tuesday, December 16, at 1 pm and closes on Thursday, January 8, at 11 pm.
