Fort Mason Community Garden (San Francisco)
Description
Trip Leader: David Assmann, Erica Rutherford, John Colbert
Date: Sunday, February 15 -- 8 to 10 a.m.
Description: Meet in front of the Community Garden to explore several different habitats in this compact part of GGNRA. In January we’ll try to find overwintering species like Bullock's Oriole, Orange-Crowned Warblers, Western Tanager, and anything else that may show up. We'll look for ducks, grebes, and loons at Aquatic Park. Five woodpecker species could be in the park. There's a remote possibility that the first of our seasonal migrants - the Allen's Hummingbird - could show up. Restroom in meadow, ample parking if there is no race on the waterfront (also easily accessible by transit). Most of the walk is flat, on mostly paved walkways, but there is one short steep descent to the waterfront. Benches are in the garden for resting if needed. Heavy rain cancels.
Trip Size: Limit 15
