Date: February 18th 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Description: Join us for an easy stroll along the Hamilton Wetlands where we’ll look for waterfowl, shorebirds, and other wildlife. The Hamilton Wetlands in Novato, California, are a restored 750-900 acre tidal ecosystem on a former Army airfield, featuring a wide, flat Bay Trail for walking/biking, abundant native plants, and diverse birdlife, with remnants of military history like hangars integrated into the landscape, offering scenic views of San Pablo Bay and Mount Diablo. Since it's restoration in 2014 this area has become a magnet for overwintering birds who take advantage of the abundance of food the tidal influence offers. Total miles: 3. There is little elevation change. Remember to bring lunch (High Tide will be at 1.52pm), and binoculars. There are no bathrooms on the trails (you can find facilities at nearby access points like Airport Park (Hangar Ave) and South Hamilton Park (Bellefontaine Rd) which offer portable toilets or permanent restrooms, so use these nearby parks for facilities before or after our walk. )
Happy to carpool (leaving Noe Valley at 9.30 am)
Limit: 10 participants max
