Description: Please join me at Blake Garden on March 3rd for a spring bird walk. We’ll be perusing the garden for residence birds such as: Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets,Townsend’s and Yellow-rumped Warblers, Hermit Thrush, Fox and Golden-crowned Sparrow, the occasional Varied Thrush and Cedar Waxwings plus any new arrivals for the spring season. The Cooper's Hawk may already be defending her nest territory.

The Blake Garden is a public landscape laboratory. In 1957 the Blake Estate was deeded to the UC Berkeley Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning Department. With many horticultural plants and more than 90 sited bird species the garden is a model for sustainable environmental practices such as composting, rainwater-catchment and apiculture with several student projects on display.

Limit:15

Enjoy early spring by birding the garden.  The dirt and gravel trails are well maintained and go up- and down-hill. There are stairs and potentially slippery up and down hill sections of trail. Restrooms are present on the premises. Please bring binoculars if you have them. We will meet in the free parking lot at 70 Rincon Rd., Kensington, 94707 at 9am. We will bird for approximately two-and-a-hours.
