Description: Come enjoy the breeding birds in Tilden Botanic garden. Watch birds as they build their nests and raise their young. The 10 acre garden was opened in 1940, a result of a Works Progress Administration project. It houses the world's most diverse collection of manzanitas and the largest cultivated plant collection from the Sierra Nevada. The garden grows representatives of more than 400 federal, state or California Native Plant Society listed rare, threatened or endangered plant species. A docent knowledgeable in the garden's botany will accompany the bird walk.
Enjoy Spring. The dirt and gravel trails go up and down-hill and are well maintained. Restrooms are in the parking lot. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Scopes are also welcome.
