Lake Merced (San Francisco)

Date: Wednesday July 1 –  8 to 10 a.m.

Description: Let’s meet at Lake Merced (Boat house). There is a parking lot and public restrooms.  We will take a walk along both lakes and finally cross the golf course via the trail.  In the open water & shoreline we should see Grebes, Cormorants, Herons & Egrets and Gulls.  In the marshes & reeds we should see and hear Marsh Wrens, Common Yellowthroats and Warblers.  In the wonderful cyprus trees we should see raptors such as  Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks and regulars such as Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Pygmy Nuthatch, Bushtit, and Black Phoebe are highly active during the summer months. If we have time we can head down to the other bridge to see the local specialty - Long Tailed Grackles  

The golf club house has a marvellous cafe that is great for coffee and lunch
