08/10/2026 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM PT

Description

Leader: Katherine Tynan (650-207-9172)

Date: Monday, August 10 – 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Description: Candlestick Point is a prime viewing spot for both resident species and early arriving migrants. Full tide will be at 11.40 so any shorebirds should get pushed closer to shore.  It is a short, easy walk and we can extend your birding by exploring the adjoining pathways toward Yosemite Slough. Restrooms are readily available although some are porta potties. We should see lots of waterbirds egrets, herons, and various dabbling and diving ducks. For a few years there has been a pair of resident White-tailed Kites. We may also see Northern Harriers and kestrels. Shorebirds & songbirds can be spotted in the coastal scrub and along the shoreline.

Limit: 10

Directions: Last Port Lot: Located at 160 Harney Way, open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
