Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, Oakland
Description
Leader: Maureen Lahiff, MLahiff@aol.com, 510.484.6529
Date: Saturday August 29 -- 1 to 4 pm
An afternoon field trip, thanks to the tides. There is a high tide of around 5 feet at noon, which will be going out and exposing mudflat for shorebirds to feed.
This location is rewarding for birders of all levels of experience.
If you need to use a pair of Golden Gate Bird Alliance binoculars, please let Maureen know by Wednesday, August 26.
Spotting scopes welcome and appreciated.
We will be walking about 2 miles, sometimes on level, paved paths, and sometimes on fairly hard-packed sandy areas. Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and hats. Although there’s hardly any shade, it can be cool and windy here, so a jacket that cuts the wind can allow you to concentrate on the birds.
There are restrooms near the parking area and at the observation tower on the railroad mole.
For more information about the park, please visit the Port of Oakland website: https://www.portofoakland.com/port/seaport/middle-harbor/
